How to Transform Short Hair to Long Hair? Three Easy, Affordable Steps

Long, thick hair to many is a luxury these days. Difficult to keep healthy and in good condition, many of us opt for shorter more practical styles for our day-to-day hairstyle. Think of any celebrity with long, thick tresses and 90% of the time they will be showcasing expensive human hair extensions that take hours to put in- a lot of hassle for those without the time and wealth.
Since Greek times, long hair has been a sign of health and wealth. The use of long hair as a symbol of beauty, wisdom, strength and femininity appears again and again in ancient mythology such as the story of Samson and Delilah, Lady Godiva, Medusa, and many Navajo stories and beliefs. So, without breaking the bank, how do you get from a boyish pixie hair cut to Cheryl Cole's luxurious locks (and from everything in between)?

Step 1: Natural Look or Celebrity Style? For a full on turning heads effect, go for a complete color change (even the Elizabethans bought red wigs to imitate the Queen, similar to the craze for red hair following Cheryl's new style on X Factor!) or choose a celebrity style wig, including the now infamous Lady Gaga styles, Cheryl Cole or the Kardashian sisters. For a more natural look, you can use clip-in hair wefts to match your own color. These are one-piece extensions that add even length and thickness across the width of your head in just a few easy clicks.

Step 2: Choose a whole new hairstyle or give the appearance of long hair using a long ponytail. Modern wigs are no longer the heavy, itchy expensive accessories the past. Heat friendly Kanekelon fibre now means soft, realistic-looking wigs which you can style with tongs or straighteners. Sleek and stylish Pony tails are now available on the market in straight, wavy or curly styles in a range of lengths shoulder length to mid-back. Easy to apply, they can either clip in to your own hair or be securely applied using a drawstring attachment.
Step 3: Complete the transformation from short to long hair in under 5 minutes. If you have chosen a complete new hairstyle using a wig, make sure you use a wig cap which holds your hair in place, without lumps or bumps, no matter how short or long your real hair is. If you are attaching a ponytail, scrape your hair into a small bun around which you can then attach your long hair. For help on applying hair wefts.
